📌 The Inspiration

How It All Started in Sunny Florida
Whiskered Moon Press wasn't born in a boardroom. It was born on a dock in Boca Grande, Florida. Forever inspired by the cats we are honored to love and Gulf Coast sunshine. These island-loving authors, Jack and Gabrielle Gibbons, started this company for the simplest, most honest reason: they love being creative, and they absolutely love their cats. Living near this beautiful barrier island in southwest Florida, they're inspired daily by the Boca Grande lighthouse, sandy Gulf beaches, and the relaxed Florida island lifestyle.
What began as a personal passion in their sunny, beachy home quickly grew into something bigger: a series of heartfelt children's books that use the real personalities of their cats to help young readers navigate big feelings. Their stories capture the essence of Charlotte Harbor area life, from the Gulf Water's natural beauty to the unique charm of Gasparilla Island.
Every page is picture-heavy, full color, and packed with the kind of warmth that only comes from a story told with genuine Florida Gulf Coast love. As local Florida authors, Jack and Gabrielle bring authentic southwest Florida flavor to every tale.
Meet the Cats
The adventurous calico with a spirit too big for one name. Pony (also known as Turbo Horse) is the sometimes-brave, curious heart of most of the stories. She's always galloping around the house, and hopping out from around the corner to say hello.
The dapper tuxedo cat with a sweet, super loving soul. Donut is the kindest, yet sometimes quite goofy. Find her playing with toys, chasing a string, and looking for a warm lap to snuggle up on.
The bright, bold orange cat with a story everyone can relate to. A Mindful Day With Miso is hand-illustrated with watercolors, a one-of-a-kind book that encourages us all to learn how to interact with new friends, slow down, and take in the natural beauty around us.
Southwest Florida - Our Gulf Coast Home
Every story is rooted in the real magic of Boca Grande, Barrier Islands, and the Gulf Coast: the historic Boca Grande lighthouse, ancient banyan trees, the Charlotte Harbor Lemon Bay, and sandy Florida Gulf shores. These southwest Florida authors draw from the authentic beauty of the places they call home to create children's books that feel both fantastical and completely real. From Boca Grande Pass, tropical natural land with critters of all kinds, to the Gulf beaches, every location inspires.
Two Illustration Styles
Most Whiskered Moon Press books use rich computer graphics crafted to look like hand illustrations, warm, textured, and full of life. But A Mindful Day With Miso is something special: every page is hand-painted with real watercolors, giving it a one-of-a-kind softness you can almost feel.
